Technology Integration
Technology has become an integral part of our society and our students are very experienced in using it. It is important for me as teacher to use technology in ways that are engaging. We really need to allow the students to use it in ways that will challenge them or assist them.
The following are ways that I have incorporated technology into my classroom.
Toondoo creating comic strips is an appropriate writing tasks for novice to advanced second language learners.
Animoto This website is perfect for creating picture driven reports. I used this as a tool for creating a book report. After a short lesson on how to use the website, the students were able to use Animoto on their own.
Blogs (Google classroom) can be a great way for teachers to provide information for students as well as collect assignments. They can also allow the teacher and students to communicate with parents. A parent can easily check a blog to see the work that has been assigned to the students. They can also see their student's progress.
Classroom Dojo This is an excellent behavior management program that can be used both on the computer and on an iPhone. It allows the teacher to add or take away points from individual students. The students can also view their behaviour online by using their own log in.
Dragon Dictate This program is excellent for students who may have dyslexia or struggle with writing. I would allow some of my students to use Dragon Dictate on the iPad in order to check their spelling after they had challenged themselves to write it on their own first.
Padlet is not a tool for creating audio but padlet notes can include links to audio files!
GOOGLE VOICE for Speaking Assessments. Have students use their cell phone to record their conversation using your Google Voice.
VOKI for Speaking Assessments. Have students use their cell phone to record their conversation.
•Voicethread allows students to view and respond orally or in writing to a text posted by the instructor.
